Resource Center of Dallas offers several educational classes monthly. Classes are open to the public unless otherwise noted. Class times are listed on the calendar page.

HIV/AIDS 101: The Basics

An introductory session about AIDS is offered once a month.  Topics include definitions, treatments, HIV and women, opportunistic infections, statistics, prevention, and extensive information about safe sex.  Free of charge, pre-registration required.

DIVERSITY 101

The GLBT community is complex and multifaceted. This class explores the diverse aspects of the community, its struggles and triumphs, a review of key terms and concepts, and an exploration of upcoming issues affecting the GLBT community. Free of charge, pre-registration required.

VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION

Over 1200 volunteers assisted with programs and projects at Resource Center of Dallas in 2008. Whether it is answering phones, entering computer data, designing a brochure, or serving meals, volunteers enable the Center to provide superior service to the community.  This class explores the various opportunities available to volunteers. Free of charge, pre-registration required.

COMMUNITY SERVICE ORIENTATION

If you have been assigned community service hours by the court system or expect to be assigned hours at a future date and wish to fulfill those required hours at Resource Center of Dallas, you must take this class first. Community service work must be referred through the Volunteer Center of Dallas, the Day Reporting Center of Dallas, the County of Denton or on the advice of your attorney.  Free of charge, pre-registration required.
