1. Jewel Lesbian Fiction Book Club

Tuesday, February 21, 2012 - Book Discussion, “96 Hours.” Author Georgia Beers will join us on the big screen for discussion and questions about this well written novel.

A morning flight from Europe to New York on September 11, 2001 is diverted to Gander, Newfoundland. Two very different women are thrown together in the ninety-six hour layover while they experience an intense range of emotions about the event, the Gander people, and each other.

Please bring books to swap (leave a book, take a book) or buy a book for $2.  What a deal! In addition, the money from the book swaps helps to provide you this fantastic opportunity to interact with lesbian fiction authors.

Each month we discuss a different book and have the opportunity to ask questions of the author. Don’t miss this great opportunity to meet the authors and discuss books with other avid readers. If you haven't read the book please come too – the more the merrier.

2. Jewel Writing Discussion and Exchange

Join us every 4th Tuesday as we discuss a different aspect of writing. We will also have a mini writing exercise. Then we will discuss what worked, what didn't, and how we can improve. This is also an opportunity to read and discuss works that you have written and works that your fellow Jewel women have written. We exchange writing one month with a pre-reading discussion and then discuss the writing after everyone has an opportunity to read the following month. Even if you don't write, come read what others wrote and learn about writing!
